All you need to bring is your curiosity and a few simple materials.
*fabric to sew on {this could include clothing, yardage, a dish towel, a scarf, a pillowcase, etc.}
*thread {Heidi will use DMC pearl cotton size 8, but any thread will work; options include crochet cotton, silk or linen thread, size 12 thread, sewing machine thread, embroidery floss or even thread from a small sewing repair kit}
*a needle that works with your thread
*scissors
{optional: an embroidery hoop, thimble, and a needle puller}

Heidi Parkes
Heidi is a quilter, mender, and teacher living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Celebrating the hand is an essential component in Heidi’s clothing repairs and quilts - a way of slowing down, and adding value by adding time to a work of art. Heidi exhibits her quilts and mending in galleries and museums, and teaches internationally. Whether sharing her work on Instagram, Zoom, or in person, she instills a sense of improvisation, permission, gentleness, and reflectivity into the experience.
